Black Friday 2011 1080p TV Deal Predictions

Posted by Manish Pandey On Wednesday, 12 October 2011 0 comments

Full HD TVs also known as 1080p TVs are have definitely arrived in the mainstream. While we still will see most bargain Black Friday TV deals feature HD Ready (720p) TVs, we will see much more 1080p TV deals compared to last year.

Last Black Friday the $198 32-inch Emerson HDTV from Walmart was the best bargain Black Friday TV deal. This was a 720p TV with 60Hz. The sweet spot for full HD TVs is a size around 40-inch. The best full HD TV deal on Black Friday 2010 was from Target. They offered the 40-inch Westinghouse VR4085DF 1080p HDTV for $298.
$298 is the base mark you should keep in mind when looking for 1080p HDTV deals. At these low prices of course you just get a TV without all the bells and whistles that more expensive TVs offer today including Internet and 3D.

bf-32-full-hd1080p HDTVs also just make sense if you have a full HD media source like a Sony PS3, Blu-ray player or full HD TV service.
Because many consumers still do not need full HD, the most Black Friday TV deals feature still 720p TVs. The currently bestselling TV on Amazon is also a 720p Television. The Panasonic VIERA TC-L32C3 32-inch 720p HDTV sells for $313.72.

I predict that we will see several 40-inch 1080p HDTV priced under $350 this year. The $298 Target 1080p deal was the exception last year. Most 1080p 40-inch TVs sold for around $400.

5 Tips to Bag the Best Black Friday Bargains

Posted by Manish Pandey On Tuesday, 11 October 2011 0 comments

Black Friday can mean major savings when it comes to holiday shopping, but there are deals to be had that don’t involve waking up in the wee hours the morning after Thanksgiving and battling the crowds. The November 2011 issue of ShopSmart magazine, from the publisher of Consumer Reports, has a step-by-step guide to finding the best Black Friday sales without all the runaround.

“Multiplying deal deadlines can put a lot of pressure on shoppers leading up to Black Friday,” said Lisa Lee Freeman, editor-in-chief of ShopSmart. “With our five Black Friday shopping tips, people can avoid the pressure that would otherwise lead them to make irrational purchases and waste a lot of money.”

    Start now
Thanks to “holiday creep” – the same phenomenon that puts Christmas decorations in stores before you’ve finished eating your Halloween candy – you can probably grab some Black Friday-style deals now. Last year, JCPenney, Sears, Staples, Target, Walmart, and others advertised big sales – some offering as much as 50 percent off – starting even before Halloween. So look online for info about preholiday sales.

Nintendo Wii Only $99 [Black Friday Prediction]

Posted by Manish Pandey On 0 comments

While Black Friday 2011 will technically fall on November 25th, right after Thanksgiving weekend, as we've seen from the past months you can expect retailers to begin offering Black Friday deals starting October 28, essentially turning Black Friday into Black November.

And as we've also seen in the past, the best Black Friday deals are always available before Black Friday, with November 25th usually being the last day where retailers may further cut down prices of popular electronics if they are still in inventory.

So what can you expect from Black Friday 2011 this year? Last year, we saw HDTVs crash to unbelievably low prices. This year however it looks like some popular products may be on their way out and Black Friday will be the perfect farewell. Now we're not talking about the BlackBerry PlayBook although we're hoping to see it crash to $99 in November. We're instead talking about the Nintendo Wii.

Black Friday 2011 Prediction: Nintendo Wii only $99

With the Nintendo Wii U expected to roll out in 2012, all eyes are on the current Nintendo Wii stock to be cleared out. And the target price here is $99. We're keeping our fingers crossed folks.

Sawgrass Mills to open 24-hours for Black Friday shopping

Posted by Manish Pandey On Sunday, 9 October 2011 0 comments

Sunrise's Sawgrass Mills is planning to offer 24 hours of non-stop shopping to kick off the Black Friday shopping season.

The mall said Tuesday it will open its doors from 10 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, through 10 p.m. Nov. 25, to give shoppers a head start on exclusive deals and bargains.

"This is a major first for Sawgrass Mills and it is a great way to kick off the holiday season," said Joellyn Fellmeth, director of marketing and business development in a statement. She said stores will be open two more hours compared to last Thanksgiving to give retailers and shoppers more opportunity.

Last year Sawgrass opened from midnight Thanksgiving through 9:30 p.m. the following day.

It was the first South Florida mall to kick off the tradition of a midnight Thanksgiving opening.

The mall's previous Thanksgiving midnight openings have drawn throngs of South Floridians looking to get first dibs on sales and promotions – some offered for a limited time only.

Last year an estimated 30,000 Black Friday diehards waited in lines for the midnight opening.

For a nominal fee, shoppers laden with holiday purchases will be able to take advantage of a new shopping bag storage and shipping service launched this year. They can either store their packages at the mall while shopping or have them sent to their home, hotel or airport.

Shoppers not wanting to hassle with finding their own parking space can also take advantage of valet services during the holiday season, mall officials said.

Fifteen minutes after the midnight Thanksgiving opening last year, the mall's 12,000 parking spaces were completely full.

Located at 12801 W. Sunrise Blvd., the shopping, dining and entertainment complex has more than 350 name-brand outlet and off-price retailers, two food courts and six full-service restaurants among other amenities.

Black Friday Camping Out Tips via GottaDeal

Posted by Manish Pandey On Friday, 7 October 2011 0 comments

    Black Friday Camping

Dev Shapiro, known as bigjimslade on the GottaDeal.com Forums, is a long-time Black Friday camping veteran. Most years Dev spends days camped out at a local Best Buy store with a group of friends. In this article, he gives his tips and suggestions for having a successful Black Friday camping experience. See the end of the article for ways you can have any of your Black Friday camping questions answered.

    Introduction to Black Friday Camping

Black Friday camping is not like camping at a state park or KOA campground. You will usually be camping in the concrete jungle of a big box store or shopping mall parking lot. You will need to pack items for as many days as you will be out there. Please keep in mind this article is general set of guidelines and you will need to tailor this list for the area you live in, especially taking into account the weather forecast and well as the local city codes. For example, some cities do not allow tents or other shelter in retail areas and some health codes do not allow you to use a camp stove or BBQ. Learn what you can and can't bring before you leave the house.

    Before You Camp

Before you drag all of your camping gear out of storage you should keep a few things in mind. When you know where you will want to camp you should contact the manager at the store or shopping mall that you will be camping at. See if there are any special restrictions and find out where you should start the line. In situations where you have a store in a shopping center, it is typically private property and the store rents the space. Some shopping centers and retail centers do not allow tents. Your store manager will know the rules, so just ask. After you get the OK from the store manager then I suggest you get your gear and set it up on your front lawn. Check to see if everything works and is in good shape for your upcoming adventure.

    Shelter

Shelter is highly recommended for many reasons. I would recommend a tent. This will help you keep out of the wind and store your equipment like coolers, chairs and food. A tent is easy to set up and break down. You will need the type of tent that requires no stakes. On these type of tents, the corners will have a key at the end and will fit into the tent poles. A good tent will shelter you from the cold and wind and will make the experience much more tolerable.

    Seating
Seating is another important factor to consider when Black Friday camping. You will be sitting a lot and therefore you will need and appreciate a comfy camp chair. I would recommend a chair that is comfy, has a back to it and folds up easily when you are done with it.
    Coolers
You may be thinking: it's November and not July, so why do I need to have a cooler? You will need to have a cooler to keep drinks and food fresh. Even though it is not 100 degrees you need to keep hydrated. Leave the sodas and beer at home and bring a lot of water and non carbonated drinks. I would recommend two coolers. One for drinks and one for food.
    Heat
Before I get into this subject please remember to put your safety first. Obey all local laws and never have any type of heating device or open flame inside tents. If you live in a cold weather area of the country, having a portable source of heat is a must. For many years I have been using a heater from Coleman. It is a catalytic heater that runs off of propane. I always make sure I have around 6 bottles of propane on hand for each heater for every 12 hours. In my camp I have a total of 4 heaters. For your body you will need hand warmers that you need to put on your gloves. Frostbite is nasty and not fun.
    Food & Cooking
Most local laws and health codes do not allow you to cook in the open. That includes camp stoves and BBQs. The way my group handles food and meals is simple: we pack all of our snacks and light food items into a cooler and for dinner we plan ahead where someone in our group will pick up food. Before you camp you should know the area well so you'll know where the nearest food sources and restrooms are. If you did not do that or still need ideas use mobile apps like Yelp and Foursquare. Remember, most restaurants are closed or close early on Thanksgiving Day. Also if you are camping over several days make it fun and have a theme night. One night have Indian and another Asian and so on. While we are on the subject of food and drink, I suggest that you bring your own trash bags and find a way to dispose of your trash.
    Clothing
You can always layer up but can't strip down all the way. Since the weather and climate is different all over the country you should be smart when selecting your clothing and take in account on the number of days you will be outside. I have found long johns, a nice coat that breathes well and gloves work well. Keep in mind that you need to protect your ears, nose, fingers and toes from frostbite. You will also need a lot of hand warmers.
    Personal Items & Staying Connected
You should limit the personal items you take when you camp for Black Friday. This way you wont have to worry about them during the rush of Black Friday and getting into the store. I bring my wallet, cell phone, my Black Friday ads, notebook, a book to read and a laptop. Staying connected is very important when you camp out. GottaDeal.com gets Black Friday news and updates hourly during the week of Black Friday. Stores have been known to release special and hidden sales. If you are going to be camping out for a day or less you don’t have to worry too much about staying charged. But if you are going to be out there for more than a day, I would suggest buying a power inverter. A power inverter will allow you to charge your laptops and cell phones with your vehicle’s battery. You can buy one at Radio Shack or online.
    Conclusing & Camping Webcast
We hope you have found this article useful in your planning for Black Friday camping this year. Should you have any further questions, we invite you to post them on our Black Friday message boards. Also, this Saturday we will be having a special camping-themed edition of our popular Black Friday webcasts. You can ask the author of this article questions live and get any answers you need. Fred’s Store Black Friday 2011 Predictions

Posted by Manish Pandey On Monday, 3 October 2011 0 comments

One of the most popular regional stores in USA, Fred’s Hometown Discount Store Inc. will more likely, yet again offer us a bargain for this season of Black Friday.

Fred’s Store is a regional chain of discount retail stores which is especially present on the southeastern part of America and in some extend into the Midwest. It operates about 700 stores and 300 pharmacies in 15 states.

Fred’s Store is especially popular in: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee It is well known in the smaller towns and focuses on following great discount margins for consumers. You will be able to find great deals all around the year, but for Black Friday 2011 you will be able to discover some truly amazing deals.

The most anticipated probable deal for Black Friday 2011 at the Fred’s Inc. will most probably be the under $100 HDTV. Besides this, you might also find a DVD or a VCR combo offer for less than $50. And this statement comes based on last year discount sale for Magnavox DVD Player and VCR Combo which was found at $34.95.

Following this, you will also be able to find some great deals for popular toys which will most likely make great gifts for Christmas for any child. There is a high possibility that you will be able to find great deals for $10 or even for $5, but you will need to dedicate a bit of time to search through the offers.

Besides this, you will also be able to find great offers for home appliance such as vacuum cleaners, toasters, microwave ovens or coffee makers at, yet again, prices under $50. And this is because during the previous Black Friday we have found the Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaner for $24.95 and the Continental Digital Coffee Maker for $10.

And if you want to get the best deals for Black Friday 2011 at Fred’s Store as well as any other store, you should do a bit of research to see if it is the best of deals and if it will offer you what you desire to the fullest once you have purchased it. It is better to pay more, if you need some features and it is better to see if there aren’t other products which will give you the same functions at a much lower price.

Black Friday: It's not yet time to hit the panic button

Posted by Manish Pandey On Sunday, 7 August 2011 0 comments

Black Friday: It's not yet time to hit the panic button

Mumbai: Long-term equity story intact; adding some more gold and debt instruments could prove fruitful in the short term

This Friday's crash that saw many stocks sinking to their yearly lows has spooked retail investors. What's worse, with no positive cues from the global markets, fears of a further fall are not being ruled out either. While retail investors are the first ones to press the panic button, are there options outside of the equity markets?

"In the current environment, many investors ask us whether debt instruments are a good option, given the high interest rates and the volatile equity markets," says Pradeep Dokania, chairman, global wealth and investment management, DSP Merill Lynch India.

Though Dokania remains unequivocal in his opinion that long-term equity investors must stay put, the fact of the matter is that the last time the stock markets were euphoric was, during Diwali in 2010. The Bombay Stock Exchange's benchmark index, Sensex closed at 21,004.96 on November 5, 2010. Since then, the market has remained listless with a downward bias -- it has corrected by 17.61 per cent.

    EXISTING INVESTOR:
Consider the past one-year returns. Both the Sensex and Nifty are down ,4.77 and 4.33 per cent, respectively.

While the existing investor has seen his portfolio value erode, getting out of the market right now, could be the worst strategy to adopt say market men.

"The selling which we saw on Friday was purely panic-driven. One must wait for the market to stabilise, giving it at least another six months before taking a decision," says Sudip Bandyopadhyay, MD and CEO, Destimoney Securities.

Black Friday: It's not yet time to hit the panic button

He even cautions against dumping of 'junk' scrips at the moment, asking investors to hold on till this moment of panic passes and be patient. Investors should use a rebound in markets to get rid of such stocks and rebalance their portfolio with companies that have better fundamentals and growth visibility.

Ambarish Baliga, COO, of brokerage firm, Way2Wealth, says: "This is no time for short-term buying or investing in mid- and small-cap stocks whose shares might be pledged with lenders. In a falling market, remaining invested in these can be counterproductive."

In tough markets, mid- and small-cap stocks typically do not perform well. Hence, it is not surprising that mid- and small-cap equity funds have also delivered negative returns of five per cent (on an average) in the last one year.

Certified financial planners are advising existing investments be made via mutual fund systematic investment plans (SIPs). "Investments in SIPs can grow from the cost averaging principle, only if investors forget about it for the next five years," says financial planner Arnav Pandya.

    NEW INVESTORS
Sure, market movement over the next two months will be slow. Yet, the silver lining is that it is a good window of opportunity to pick up good stocks.

Hemant Rustagi, CEO, Wiseinvest Advisors, feels investors waiting on the sidelines for a correction should enter the markets at this point. His advice: "Avoid lump sum investments and put in only about 30-40 per cent of your investible amount in diversified equity mutual funds at this moment since a further fall is not ruled out."
