From T-Mobile’s leaked roadmap to our first glimpse of the handset to T-Mobile’s announcement — the dual-screen LG DoublePlay has officially be announced and might soon be available. And according to T-Mobile, it’s the ultimate multitasking handset.
The LG DoublePlay has two capacitive touchscreen displays — a 3.5-inch main display and a 2-inch sub-display — that can work together or work independent of each other. The handset has a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard, 1GHz Qualcomm processor, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, and 720p HD recorder. The Android 2.3 Gingerbread handst has email, messaging, and social networking capabilities.
This year’s LG US National Texting Championship will use the LG DoublePlay as its official handset, with the winner slated to walk off with a $50,000 prize. T-Mobile, unfortunately, isn’t very upfront with pricing and availability. But the prior leaked roadmap suggests a November 2 release date and a $149 price tag with a 2 year contract.
