Giant search engine Google is all set to terminate its Google Labs initiative as announced by the company on Wednesday.

The move was taken as an effort by the chief executive and founder Larry Page with an aim to highlight the company tightly on products generating revenue.

It still lifted eyebrows as this project is the birthplace of few of Google’s product like Google Reader and Google Maps, which are most widely used.

A Google spokesman stated that they will keep innovating and experimenting, but they want to perform it on a larger scale.

They are re-focusing their hard work on projects having global impact and trying to make bigger bets there.

He further stated that there will not be any instant changes in Maps Labs and Gmail Labs.
