Will the iPod Touch Go on Sale on Black Friday?

The iPod Touch is likely to go on sale on Black Friday in 2011. Looking at last year's sales, many stores had it priced $20-$30 lower than it's current price. Some also included a store gift card that was bundled in with the purchase. There are various generations that were offered for sale, since the 4th generation came out in November 2010, just a couple weeks before Black Friday last year.

From the previous year's information, Best Buy offered the lowest price on the iPod Touch. The latest generation came out just before the holiday season. Best Buy had it on Black Friday for $199.99. The purchase included a $30 Best Buy gift card. Therefore, you could technically say the price of the iPod itself was only $169.99. I don't know for sure it they will be running a similar deal this year.

However, I think Walmart is likely to have the iPod Touch on sale this Black Friday. Last year, the latest generation came out was offered on Black Friday for $225 at Walmart. A gift card valued at $50 was also included with the device. This made the device price $175. In my opinion, this purchase was a better deal over the Best Buy one. You had a larger gift card to spend on a future purchase, and most people would agree it's easier to spend $50 at Walmart than just $30 at Best Buy. There was also an iPod Touch with a $50 iTunes gift card available at some Walmart stores last year.

Also, I should note that the Best Buy deal was on the 3rd generation iPod Touch, while the Walmart offer was for the 4th generation iPod touch. That's another reason why the Walmart deal was even better.

Currently, iPod Touch's are going for $200-$220, depending on the website or store you purchasing one from. Based on this, I would guess that, if they do decide to drop the price, it won't be by much. A new generation is supposedly coming out between now and the end of the year, so it's possible Apple and stores will capitalize on the new release like they did with the 2010 Black Friday.

That will only work if they come out with the iPod Touch before November 25th, 2011. With the new update, Apple may decide to lower the price of the 4th generation iPod Touch just in time for Black Friday this year.
