The new Indian Rupee Symbol software is now available for download free of cost. Soon one can use this in their Personal Computer.
This software can be downloaded from the websitehttp://tdil.mit.gov.in/. The new rupee symbol has been released by TDIL data centre in association with ISO and Unicode Consortium.
This symbol will be available only in Unicode as stated by Finance Ministry. Personal Computer manufacturers on the other hand stated that the new Rupee Symbol will be available on PC keyboards from January 2012 onwards.
It will appear on the similar row where symbols of other currencies and numerals exist. At present the new Indian Rupee Symbol will be viewable only on Personal Computers which have this font installed.
