One of the hottest Black Friday deals is the lowest priced laptop. Each year retailers compete to offer bargain laptops. Last year Best Buy won with their $189.99 Toshiba Laptop, beating Walmart's $198 Black Friday laptop. How low will prices drop this year. To set the level, Best Buy is offering right now a bargain laptop priced at $247.77. The unusual price is explained by looking at the current Walmart bargain laptop priced at $248.
The Walmart Laptop is 33 Cents more expensive, but offers a larger screen than the Best Buy laptop. The Best Buy bargain laptop is a Acer Aspire (AS4250-BZ637) running on an AMD C-50 CPU. Other features include 14-inch display, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, DVD drive, webcam, and 6-cell battery (4hours).
Walmart offers (out of stock online) the Compaq Presario CQ57-229WM also running on the AMD C50 CPU. Other specifications include 15.6-inch screen, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, DVD drive, webcam and 6-cell battery (4hours).
Given that the bargain laptop prices are already very close to $200, I am pretty sure we will see even more sub-$200 Black Friday laptop deals this year compared to last year. I would like though to see better specifications for a $200 Black Friday Laptop. More RAM and a faster CPU would make these laptops more attractive. Depending what you need, it might be even better to get a $200 netbook instead of a $200 laptop as it likely offers more performance. If you need to big screen and an optical drive than the laptop is the only choice.
Bargain laptops are for casual use and not for gaming or Photoshop or heavy Microsoft Office work. You can surf the web, check emails, manage your photos and write the occasional document with those machines.
We will publish again a guide featuring the best Black Friday Laptop deals as soon as they become available.
