Founded in 1990 in Ohio, Bath and Body Works is a leading retailer of personal care products, home fragrances, and related accessories. With over 1600 stores nationwide, you likely have a Bath and Body Works in your community or use their products. Bath and Body Works offers a rotating selection of products on sale, so shoppers can purchase most of their selection at a discount during the course of the year. Like most retailers, Bath and Body Works plans a special Black Friday ad each year, with savings and values designed to draw in holiday buyers.

Specials for the 2010 Holidays

For Black Friday 2010, Bath and Body Works offered two types of specials to holiday shoppers. The first offer featured a special price on the lotions, soaps, and gels when bought in multiples. On most of their signature line of lotions, foaming hand soaps, and deep cleansing hand soaps, priced at $5 per bottle, or three bottles for $12. For the anti-bacterial gels, they carried an individual price of $4 each or four bottles for $15. The individual mini anti-bacterial gels, perfect for keeping in your purse or in the car, sold for $1 each. Bath and Body Works’ pricing strategy entices shoppers to stock up, with a meaningful discount on soaps, lotions, and gels when you buy three or more. Additionally, Bath and Body Works offers seasonal fragrances, available in most of their lotions, gels, and candles during the holiday shopping season. Buyers should take the opportunity to purchase their favorite scents during Black Friday, since many scents are not available after the holidays.

The second special Bath and Body Works offered during Black Friday 2010 was the “VIP bag.” This special, available only in stores, priced at $20 with any $40 purchase. The VIP bag, about the size of a large purse, included a selection of products including a signature lotion, men and women’s shower gel, hand soap, body spray, a Wallflower scented fragrance, and body sponge. Valued at $40 when purchased individually, many consumers bought over $40 individually and averaged the price around $3 a bottle for lotions and gels when combined with the VIP bag. Bath and Body Works offered similar discounts individually during the months of November and December 2010, with each ad cycle featuring either hand soaps or lotions at three for $12 or hand gels at three for $10.
